Your detergent has surfactants that lift surface soil. That’s one cleaning mechanism. This booster adds three more that work simultaneously. 

SYSTEM 1: 7-ENZYME PANEL

Enzymes are biological catalysts. They break specific molecular bonds and keep working throughout the wash cycle rather than being consumed on contact. Most detergents include 1 to 3 enzyme classes, if any. This booster includes seven, each matched to a specific type of soil to fill in cleaning gaps your detergent doesn't cover:

Protease: breaks down protein: blood, grass, body soil, collar grime.

Lipase: dissolves fats: cooking oil, sebum, body oils, pit stains.

Amylase: breaks down starch: food stains, pasta sauce, baby formula.

Cellulase: manages fabric fibers: trims broken microfibrils that make colors look faded, reduces pilling.

Mannanase: dissolves gum-based residues: cosmetics, ice cream, certain food thickeners.

Pectate Lyase: handles fruit and wine pigments: berry stains, red wine, fruit juice.

DNase: breaks down embedded organic deposits: nucleic acid residue trapped deep in fabric fibers that produces persistent odor. This is why gym clothes keep smelling even after multiple washes. Your detergent washes the surface. DNase reaches what surfactants can’t.

SYSTEM 2: OXYGEN BLEACH

Sodium percarbonate dissolves in water and releases hydrogen peroxide gradually throughout the wash. This provides color-safe oxidative bleaching: it breaks down the molecular structures that make stains visible, brightens whites, and revives colors. Unlike chlorine bleach, it doesn’t damage fibers or strip dye.

SYSTEM 3: ZINC-BASED ODOR NEUTRALIZER

Sodium Zinc Polyitaconate is a bio-based zinc compound that chemically captures and neutralizes volatile odor compounds: the ammonia, sulfur, and other molecules you smell. This isn’t fragrance covering up odor. It’s chemistry eliminating the compounds that produce it.

WHY IT WORKS ALONGSIDE ANY DETERGENT

Surfactants lift surface soils. But they can’t break down embedded organic matter at the molecular level. That requires enzymes. Most detergents have no enzymes, or only 2 to 3 classes at low concentrations. The booster fills three gaps your detergent almost certainly has: enzyme breadth, oxygen bleach, and targeted odor neutralization.

MACHINE WASH

Add to drum before clothing. Add detergent where best:

Enzymes break down body oils, protein soils, and embedded grime that regular washing leaves behind. Enzymes work better with time. Light loads with normal soil don't need a booster. Your detergent handles those.

DEEP RESET
If new to FEBU, start here to clear built-up, embedded resiudes. In first wash or two, trapped odors may surface. That's buildup leaving the fabric, not new odor. It proves the enzymes are working. By load 2 or 3, fabrics are genuinely clean. Then switch to detergent boost for maintenance.

HEAVY-DUTY RESET:

Soak before washing:

  • 2 scoops regular load
  • 3 scoops for large or XL
  • Warm water, pre-soak, longest cycle with extra rinse

DEEP SOAK (for deep-set odors):

  • 1 scoop per gallon of warm water
  • Soak 1-6 hours (overnight okay)
  • Then run Heavy-Duty Reset

Pair with heavy-soil detergent dose. Heavy-duty was clears most cases. Deep soak first if removing years of buildup. Extended contact reaches residue trapped deep in fabric.

WHITES RESTORATION
Dingy whites, yellowed collars, grayed towels and linens.

MACHINE WASH:

  • 2 scoops standard load
  • 3 scoops large or XL load
  • Hot water (120 to 140 F), normal cycle

DEEP WHITENING SOAK:

  • 2 scoops per gallon hot water
  • 1 hour to overnight for severe dinginess
  • Then run Machine Wash

Hot water activates sodium percarbonate's full whitening and brightening power. Deep soak provides hours of contact to remove severe yellowing. Use with detergent in the washing machine.

DOSING
1 scoop = 10g (2 tsp). Dosing above is for HE machines. Standard top-loaders: add 1 extra scoop per use case. If using a detergent without enzymes, use 2 scoops for everyday loads.

DO NOT USE ON
Silk, wool, cashmere, or other protein-based fibers. The protease enzyme that breaks down protein stains will also break down protein fibers.

Yes. The booster works alongside your detergent, not instead of it. Your detergent handles surface soil. The booster handles what it leaves behind: biofilm, body oils, embedded residue, and the stains that survive a normal wash.

For regular boosting, use 1 scoop for a standard load or 2 scoops for a large or heavily soiled one. Warm water and a normal cycle work best, and a pre-soak helps if you're washing cold.

If you're new to FEBU, start with a deep reset to clear years of buildup: 2 scoops for a regular load, 3 for large or XL, with a pre-soak and extra rinse. You may notice trapped odors surface in the first wash or two. That's buildup leaving the fabric, and it means the enzymes are working. By the second or third load, switch to regular boosting.

Whites restoration and deep soaks for set-in odor use different doses. One scoop is 10g, and standard top-loaders need one extra scoop per use case.

Yes. The formula is enzyme-forward with a low oxygen bleach load, so there's not much oxidizer in a scoop to begin with, and there are no optical brighteners. OBAs deposit on everything in a load, and on black or navy the blue-white cast reads as a dull gray haze over time.

Temperature is the thing to think about. Heat activates the oxygen bleach, which lifts stains, deodorizes, and brightens. Heat and oxygen bleach also loosen dye, lightly and over time.

That "over time" is the part that matters. One warm wash won't take much of anything out of a black t-shirt. What adds up is dozens of hot washes across a garment's life, so the question isn't whether to ever use heat on darks, it's whether this particular load needs it.

Usually it doesn't. Cold with a pre-soak handles routine dark loads and the enzymes work regardless of temperature. But when darks are genuinely dirty, gym clothes, work pants, anything with real body oil, warm gets you a better clean and the cost to the dye is negligible over a load or two.

Yes, with a pre-soak. By that we mean any extra soaking time before the wash, whether that's a setting on your machine, a longer cycle, or a bucket or the sink pre-wash. Enzymes are catalysts, so they don't get used up as they work. They just need time and contact, and cold slows them down without stopping them.

Warm is the better cleaning temperature. Enzymes work faster in it, so more gets done in the same cycle, and if cleaning heavy soils is what you're after, that's what we'd recommend.

Cold is a garment care choice. You're trading some cleaning efficiency for gentler treatment of dye and fabric, which is a reasonable trade on a lot of loads. Contact time is how you close the gap. A soak gives the enzymes the hours they need to do in cold what they'd have done faster in warm.

Yes, both. The booster contains no surfactants, so it doesn't foam at all. Nothing to interfere with HE machine sensors or trip a suds-lock error.

Dosing is where machine type matters. Our scoop sizes are calibrated for front-loading HE machines, which hold a relatively small volume of water in the drum during the wash itself. Standard top-loaders fill the drum much fuller. More water in contact with your fabrics means the same scoop is spread thinner, lowering the concentration doing the work. Add one extra scoop per use case to compensate.

Add the booster directly to the drum before your clothes, not the detergent dispenser.

One major limitation: don't use it on silk, wool, or cashmere. The protease enzyme that breaks down protein stains will also break down protein fibers. The occasional or accidental use won't destroy your clothing, but it's best to avoid.

We would also suggest utilizing cold washes on anything with reactive dyes where you are concerned about color loss. Just ensure you add a pre-soak to give the enzymes extra time to work!

Dry and sealed. Moisture is the only real enemy here. It activates the oxygen bleach prematurely and degrades the enzymes before they reach your wash.

Sunlight is fine, so you don't need to hide it in a cabinet. Plenty of customers decant it into a mason jar or a sealed canister and leave it out on the shelf. Just make sure whatever you use closes tight, and skip the damp corner of the laundry room.

DNase is an enzyme that breaks down nucleic acid residue, a sticky organic material that builds up in fabric fibers and holds other deposits in place.

That residue is why odor comes back. Regular washing lifts what's on the surface, but the underlying structure stays anchored in the weave. Add heat or moisture and the smell returns. Nothing was removed, just temporarily covered.

DNase degrades that residue so the whole deposit releases and washes away.

Customers also report brighter whites and grayed fabrics coming back after a few washes. Same reason. Much of what makes older fabric look dull is accumulated deposits sitting in the fibers, not permanent discoloration.

Two reasons.

Fragrance masks odor instead of removing it. When the scent fades, the smell comes back because the source was never addressed. The booster breaks down the deposits causing the odor, so there's nothing left to cover up.

Fragrance is also one of the most common causes of contact allergies and skin irritation in laundry products. A single "fragrance" listing on a label can represent dozens of undisclosed compounds. We formulated this for people with sensitive skin, for kids' clothes, and for elderly care fabrics, so we left it out entirely.
