WHAT EACH SIZE IS FOR

• Snack (6.5" x 3.25"): Portions, small snacks, odds and ends
• Sandwich (6.5" x 5.88"): Lunches, sandwiches, organizing small items

• Gallon (10.56" x 10.75"): Marinades, bulk storage, freezer meals

BEFORE YOU USE THEM

• Freezer safe. Works for meats, prepped meals, fruits, vegetables.
• Leak-proof seal handles marinades and wet foods. Gallon and quart sizes work best for liquids.
• Not microwave safe. Max temperature is 104°F/40°C. Transfer food to a microwave-safe container before heating.
• Not for sous vide or hot liquids.
• Each bag has a Date and Contents label for tracking.

Three compostable components. That’s it.

PLA (Polylactic Acid) — A bioplastic derived from plant starches (corn or sugarcane). Provides rigidity and clarity. Biodegrades in composting conditions.

PBAT (Polybutylene Adipate Terephthalate) — A biodegradable co-polyester that provides flexibility and tear resistance. PBAT is petroleum-derived but fully biodegrades in composting conditions. This is what keeps the bag from feeling stiff or crinkly.

Cornstarch — Binds the PLA and PBAT blend and accelerates biodegradation. Fully compostable.

WHAT’S NOT IN THE BAG

No PFAS — Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances are used in conventional food packaging for grease resistance. They don’t break down in the environment (hence “forever chemicals”) and accumulate in the body over time. These bags achieve grease resistance through the PLA/PBAT material structure instead.

No BPA — Bisphenol A is a chemical building block used in polycarbonate plastics and epoxy can linings. Plant-based materials don't require it.

No PVC — Polyvinyl chloride requires plasticizers (phthalates) to become flexible, and releases chlorine compounds during production. Not needed when the base material is already flexible.

No Phthalates — Plasticizers used to make rigid plastics flexible. Unnecessary in a plant-based material that’s inherently flexible.

These bags are designed to go away when you’re done with them. Here’s what that actually means.

HOME COMPOSTABLE

Certified by TUV Austria (OK Compost HOME, S0315). Physically breaks down within 6 months and fully biodegrades within 12 months in a home compost environment at ambient temperatures. No industrial facility required.

For faster composting, cut along the marked line to separate the zipper from the bag. The zipper is PLA and fully compostable, but it's thicker than the bag body and breaks down slower. Separating the two helps both pieces decompose more evenly.

INDUSTRIAL COMPOSTABLE

BPI certified under ASTM D6400. Both disintegration and biodegradation within 180 days in commercial composting facilities.

PACKAGING

Recyclable cardboard box. No plastic packaging around the bags.

A NOTE ON “COMPOSTABLE”

Many products labeled “compostable” only break down in industrial facilities at 140°F+. That’s not useful if you don’t have access to one. FEBU bags are dual-certified for both home and industrial composting. Home composting works at ambient outdoor temperatures — your backyard pile qualifies. Results vary with climate and compost conditions, but the certification means the materials will break down in a standard home setup.
